Nowadays API certified oils are formulated to protect catalytic converters. Joe Gibbs Driven Racing oils contain all of the correct additives, like zinc, phosphorous and sulfur in addition to the highest quality base oils to protect your performance engine, especially FLAT-TAPPET engines. Performance and turbocharged engines see more rpm, higher loads and increased temperatures compared to street engines, so a racing engine requires the higher levels of additives to prevent premature part failures. At AR Fabrication, 90% of our engines are flat-tappet engines and we require all of our customers to have their cars started and have the break-in procedure performed with JOE GIBBS DRIVEN RACING OILS.
